Diana!

                                                                 Diana Ross.
Hi! People. As you can see I have a post for Diana Ross. Some people call her The Legendary Diana" I call her the "Charming and Glamour Lady". Diana is everything! I love me some Diana! She is a beautiful Black woman. I mean by that her beauty, her talent everything! I tried to select some pictures of her for my post but in most of them she looks stunning. Consequently, I truly had hard time choosing what to pick. At the end I thought I might have to put those that I thought were nice and fit for my post here!
Diana Ross is a singer and an actress but also a record producer and she sometimes has modeled. She has a successful career even though she went through the ups and the downs as people like to say. She is a lady who inspires because she has that personality that never gives up. After reading testimonies and comments about her it looks like she had this ability to reinvent herself and bounce back whenever she is going through the "downs".
Yet she seems to be a simple person because she lives a simple life I will say she likes discretion. I barely see her in paparazzi pictures and in magazines. She lives in a quiet neighborhood compared to other celebrities that you see every time everywhere. No scandal about that lady. I don't recall seeing this woman misbehaving she has such class that's why people call her "Ms. Ross" I watched her performing in most of her videos she liked to say I like to look my public in the eyes. She likes to look at her public into the eyes and talk to them. Just watch her performing...She knows how to create that special contact with her public.
She is a ..."sexy" and a pretty woman. Have you seen the way she moves her hair? Diana always have her hair free in the air.  Like a "Femme fatale" woman saying "Dare to look at me in the eyes". You can see how her hair always moves with the wind when she is performing and she shakes her hair and passes her hand in it and it looks so sensually charming. At that moment she looks like  a woman who feels free and confident. Diana knows how to captivate people attention. People cannot be indifferent to her. I saw her talking on interview she can really mesmerizes you...(Not in a negative way) Her voice: When she sings, when she talks Diana has something in her voice: It's like a sparrow but also sensual. Now you know why I say she is everything (She is every woman). Here are some pictures of her that I liked and found on google and I decided to share for this post. The pictures are not mine
I am not saying too much, just look at the pictures and you will definitely understand my point. She has positively impacted so many Black women. I love me some kind of these artists!
I like the way she talked about her hair...It makes me smile it's so nice! Looking at her pictures it makes you proud to be a woman. She was not like stuck in a box and that makes a real artist to me it is creativity. Looking at the pictures it makes you want to embrace yourself, embrace your beauty  with all the qualities that women possess to feel proud to be a woman.
In the early 90's when I was like 8 or 10 years old my cousin would always talk about Diana Ross. I didn't know her I was too young to know stars. But she would talk about her hair (btw my cousin had also long  and big hair when she was in high school), she would talk about the way Diana Ross sang and her way to be so elegant. I mean my cousin would have her poster in her bedroom and she was always saying  Diana is beautiful! she was a fan! Well... lol! I think I knew her without watching her on TV yet until I saw her on "We are the World". Then, later she showed me a music disc with Diana on the cover  I started to be curious as I became a teen, then heard her songs see her talent and more and more.
Diana Ross in a Afro hairstyle
I watched some of her concerts I don't see many singers nowadays having this talent She, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey are my favorite singers.  The costumes that she has in her concerts are always amazing. I am probably too young to be her fan but I think it is all about talent, music and rythm. One of my favorite Diana's concerts was the one she did at Central Park in New York in 1983 (Well I was a baby but I watched that concert few years ago I liked it so much! I keep watching it sometimes in the weekend)  I wish I could be there that day.Why do I like this concert? I like it because that concert was under a heavy rain and that concert was probably one of the best concert that I have ever seen. She sang under the rain. That day the weather was so bad and it was getting dark because of the wind and the clouds. There was so many people it was full many of them stayed and Diana was there singing with passion and love for her fans.
For that concert, she had an amazing entrance with African tribal dancers. She changed some of the costumes but that orange jumpsuit that she had on her is the one that I loved the most among the others because at that precise moment the wind was strong and played with her hair and the long orange scarf or cap that she had on her was in the air as if she was flying and the orange with some glitters made her look like a super hero kind. The picture of that moment would make you think that she was like a goddess in a paint and the photographers just captured that magic instant right on time! It was amazing!! She sang some of the Supremes' songs and her own songs.
That special moment of the concert The part that I like the most . That moment was everything!
My favorite part of the concert at Central Park (Reach Out and Touch) Wonderful!
It was a crazy and a risky good one! (Smile) The top the best concert that I have ever seen. A special moment, a great performance. Diana Ross was so elegant! Yes she is the best! People will never forget it. No wonder why some people says:" Diana Ross is the boss" (Smileys!!) simply because she is the best!
At Central Park NY (1983)

Pictures about that concert at Central Park
Yes she is definitely one of the best entertainer and I understood why she is called "The Legendary Diana Ross" Now, let's talk a little bit about her: Diana was born on march 26th 1944 in Detroit Michigan. She started singing as a teenager with two of her friends and they later formed a group called "The Supremes" (I love "The Supremes"!!) In 1969 she started a solo career and also started acting. I watched some of her movies. She played Billie Holiday's biopic in "The Lady sings The Blues." (I really liked that movie. Diana played that role so well as if she was Billie herself) Her performance in that movie gave her an Academy Award nomination for Best actress and a Golden Globe Award.
"Lady Sings The Blues" Diana Played Billie Holiday (Great movie, great performance)

Here is the trailer of the movie. I loved that movie.

She played other movies such as: "Mahogany" (1975) and the Wiz (1978) I Heard a lot about The Wiz but I didn't have the chance to watch it yet but I know she co starred with MJ. I saw some pictures of the movie in his book "Moonwalk". However I watched  two other movies that she played:  "Out of Darkness" (1994). I like it but that movie was too sad... She played a woman with schizophrenia. It made me understand some things about schizophrenia You should watch that movie if you haven't. The other was "Double Platinum" (1999) the co star was the pop singer Brandy. That was actually the first movie of Diana Ross that I watched. Brandy played her daughter that she early abandoned to pursue her career as a singer. I liked it a lot!

Diana Ross and The Supremes (One of the best Female Group)

You know most of the "Supremes" and Diana Ross' songs: "Baby Love", "Stop In The Name of Love" or " Someday" "Come See About Me".... I like listening to the Supremes' songs and I know these songs will stay for ever. Diana was the leading voice of the group. I thought I could post a little video of "The Supremes" 'performance to remember the debut ( We all know that the Supremes was one of the best female group and they remain still.) Diana Ross has written some songs when she was in the group.
Diana Ross and The Supremes "You Can't Hurry Love" One of my best songs of The Supremes.

She also has a successful solo career. There are so many songs of Diana that I like and love! I am sure you know them: "Reach Out and Touch", "Upside Down"  "I'm Coming Out" "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and many others. I will put some of her songs at the end of this post.
Since my young age I always heard about her really close friendship with Michael Jackson. There was definitely this good chemistry with both artists. Diana liked him a lot and He did like her a lot! I think and I read in MJ's book entitled " Moonwalk" (1988) that he met Diana when he and his brothers started performing under Motown (label). I mean when he was in the Jackson5. That is when he met her and he found in her something that really touched him so much (A spirit of Arts and creativity that she also had) He said that he really started painting in Diana's place. The love that he has for her was maybe difficult to understand or describe...Well, I don't know but people made so much speculations on it(Funny!) My opinion or my thought is: It was like a mother-son relation also like best friends relation and  brother-sister closeness...She was "like everything" to him in the entertainment world or maybe something like a Godmother. That is really understandable because you always need somebody to support and to believe in you. I love that chemistry a lot! You can tell they were so close to each other and they enjoyed dancing together. I always remember when they sang in the song "We Are The World" holding hands and when at MJ's birthday she sang to him "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" in a way to remind him that she would always be there for him.
MJ and Diana Ross (yes! that was the good times!)

Performing Upside Down (With MJ) Simply wonderful performance!
Diana Ross has five children (One of them is an actress) What a blessing right!?
I fell in love with this performance and look how beautiful she was here in that concert live in London and her voice like a sparrow. Just elegant! Song "Somewhere" performed by Diana Ross
(You can always go to youtube.com to listen to that song when in the Supremes)
In my mind I have always thought that artists are ambassadors of their country wherever they go even if they do not have diplomatic duties and benefits. That's why it is important for them to act properly and to represent their country in a good way.
I know there is a lot to say about her career I don't know everything but I know and read some of her achievements:
She won a Grammy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2012.
She was a honoree at The Kennedy Center Honors (I watched that ceremony on TV I love the story of her life and the performances)
She earned a Guinness World Record (1993)
She was named a "Mighty Pop Diva" along with Aretha Franklin Dionne Warwick and other singers. She has two stars in the Hollywood Walk Of Fame (The first one was when She was in the Supremes...Correct me if I am wrong and the other during her solo career.) Her music had and still has a really strong influence and an impact in younger generation, I mean this is a legacy. Many of her songs where sung by other artists and still are.
I definitely like Diana! Something that people always like to comment it's her hair in general. She definitely has so much hair!! The way she let it free I think it is her "signature style" You know it's Diana Ross! She sometimes liked to make fun of her hair in a classy and nice way.
That picture is everything!
I know she still performed sometimes. I remember she recently was in Dallas to perform some of her songs people knew every lyrics of the songs and sometimes she let the public sings. To me, she is one of my favorite artists along with Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Tina Turner,Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey... Talented ladies. To others she is the best female artist ever! We need such artists right?! A lady remains a lady.
Love you Diana!
I think my post is done. Whoa!! I didn't know I will have so much to say on that one. I thought it would be a short one but I am surprised myself. Like I said earlier I will post some of her famous tunes or songs that I like. Most of her songs is about love I guess you noticed it too. There are my selection (but there are many others.)  I hope you will like the selection that I made and that it will remind you of the good times! Unfortunately I cannot put all of them. Enjoy!
Little memories Diana Ross and The Supremes (around 1964). I love that song.

Now Diana Ross in her solo career:
"I am Coming Out"  1980 (I love the song with the lyrics) Ladies! We need to listen to that song often!

"Upside Down" ( I will say in French the word: "Indemodable" to describe that song!)

"The Best Years of My Life" (We sometimes need to be thankful and stop seeing the negative side of our lives. I love that song!)

"Ain't No Mountain High Enough" (To me that is forever! Smile!)

"Take Me Higher"

That last one that I picked. I really love that one so much "Amazing Grace" I like the way she performed that song at Budapest. Whenever I watch that performance, I feel like going to church it makes me love God more. Awww Diana is such an elegant and fine lady! Thank you for this great performance!
Thank you for passing by thank you for visiting my blog and reading my post. I hope you like the selection of the songs and you like the post! Visit me sometimes!
